While this was interesting and I'm happy I read it, it also made me realise why I usually read different types of books. People can be so awful and reading about the history of places really drives that home.

I loved this ^^ A very quick and sweet read :D

I liked it! Glad I bought it ^^ There was a nice dose of history of New York and mainly Brooklyn in there (around 1900 to 1911) but it didn't feel like it was too much or dry :) Can recommend it!

Nice worldbuilding, good changes to the original story, yay ace rep :D

The story was a bit different than what I expected from the blurb, which has more to do with my interpretation than the blurb itself, but I think I liked what I got even more than what I expected. The book dealt with quite a lot of heavy topics, but overall didn't feel heavy, there was a good balance ^^ Certain aspects of the characters were only mentioned after a while in the book, which I really liked because it let you form your image of them without unconscious bias slipping in. (I hate that I have unconscious biases, but I do, and this is a good way of being confronted by them, I guess? Maybe bias is a too big word for it, but ugh, words are hard :P ) Anyhow, I enjoyed ythe book and would recommend it. Loved how queer it was.

It may have taken me over a month (though technically I only spent 4 or 5 days actually reading) but I really enjoyed this book! A worthy part two, and I really enjoyed the layers upon layers of intrigue and plans and plots, so you were never really sure what was happening or if you could rely on the narraters view.
