Quite nice, but the ending was very sudden and rushed. It feels like there should be a sequel, but so far I found nothing about one.
It was a nice read, but I expected a bit more variation, not this almost exact retelling in new words. I knew this wasn't like 'Sleeper and the Spindle' so I didn't think it would be a completely new story, but I did expect more. The illustrations were nice, though very dark, sometimes it was hard to see what was printed. According to the text on the last page they were printed in 5 colours, but I could only discern one, pitchblack. (Which makes sense because it was painted in india-ink, but then I would still expect a gradient of the black, which is actually present if you google on the artists name. It seems like the printers added too much contrast which deleted all sublety from the pictures.
( This picture from my book compared to this original I found on google says enough for me.)
Still a nice book to have and the information on the history of the story was a nice bonus.
