I liked this book better than the first one, but the use of 'males and females' instead of men and woman, the heteronormativity (  'its suuuper important when the female offers the mate food for the first time, it's super symbolic ' ugh)  and things like that are annoying me a bit. However overall I enjoyed how the story dealt with trauma, how it affected different people in different ways. Also seeing motivations people had for stuff that happened in the first book was cool.

A heavier one, but so well done

I love this series, and I love the depiction of the sexuality of the main character! <Spoiler>demisexual! And it takes her 6 books to find out she's not outright ace.
