I loved The Grim Reaper's Lawyer.  Not only is it hilarious, but it is so unique with a truly diverse cast (racially) of characters, has a fully fleshed plot, and also has heart.  And Joyce should be my best friend.  She is unapologetically black without saying so, stylish, opinionated, educated, and quirky.  All the things I want to be or am.  And sexy Aiden, yum.  I do think he was a bit sappy which is why I took off half a star.  Book is a quick read and leaves you wanting more.  It has a satisfying complete ending but does leave on a new plot line cliff.  Looking forward to the next in the series. 

My Minotaur Husband is a quick fun read of Minotaur/human sex and insecurities.  I don't think Maizy's insecurities where addressed good enough though.  I also think both of her and Theo are a couple of horndogs.  Soon as they got comfortable it was straight to the sheets.  She was begging for it before him.  Can you say desperate.  No gualms that he is a minotaur even though she was so scared before.  Anyway, go with the flow. 

Hell of a Book is uniquely abstract with great writing.  You can tell the author thinks outside the box, is educated and eloquent.  While the book has many interesting and relevant topics about racism and history, it was wordy and redundant.  I lost interest early in the book (about 25%), but was determined to finish, so I did.  Good book, but writing style was just not me. 

40 is a wild ride into implications of religion, politics, and humanity.  I saw many correlations to the present day world.  It reminded me of Hunger Games at times.  The story itself was fine and entertaining, but I wasn't vested as I thought I should be.  There were so many characters that I was constantly confused who people were.  The story makes me scared for the future of humanity.  Maybe we do need a do over.  We may already be on that path.  

Hungry Hearts is a cute graphic with a great diversity of characters including disabled.  I loved the big text so my eyes say thank you muchos.  The support cast of Laurie's friends are hilarious, especially Pepper.  She is my favorite character.  The very slow burn romance was frustrating because I think it could have happened sooner so allow for further plot with it.  And I don't buy Oryan's icon super famous status from the cooking show. Just seem forced.  The ending was also abrupt and open ended.  I didn't read about another volume and wouldn't mind one to continue to story. But overall, I enjoyed the story.  

I absolutely loved The Marriage Act.  This government is nuts, marriage is nuts, so put them together and it's chaos.  So imaginative and speculative about how the government attempts to interfere and control people and how social media appeals to people. As always for John Marrs, bit cast of interesting unique characters. And I love how she's not shy about letting stuff happen to them.  Hello...not cookie cutter.  I love that.  Now, while I don't agree with all measures in this book, especially the new level of discrimination, I do think #weshouldbebetter should be a slogan.  Sucks people need interventions for that to happen.  Anyway, read this book.  It is just as good as The One.  John Marrs, I effs with you and can't wait to read another book by you. 

Ushers is a good time that keeps you intrigued. Held my attention the entire time. Good writing with some creep factor but not over the top.

Wicked Jenny was a wicked good time.  It was suspensefull, well written, and imaginative with a good plot.  While I suspected early on who ultimately the culprit was, I was surprised about motive and actions.  The rough housing and banter tween the young boys was so spot on that is was nauseating.  Boys are a handful. Overall, great execution with a real creep factor. Definitely worth a read.

Ruin Road is another great book by Lamar Giles.  I will keep an eye out for future books.  I loved the mixture of supernatural elements with social justice issues.  Very relatable issues.  Those IG posts...always be someone you know.  Book has a unique plot that is both fun and also thought provoking.  Emotional too.   It was suspenseful with a good flow.   Definitely recommend.

Sapiens: Pillars Vol 2 is a very informative graphic novel.  I learned so much about human history and it's evolution.  I like how it confirmed humanity started in Africa, and that human belief systems build off our ancestors and much of it is fiction we create to justify how we want to believe, and that it is not rooted in natural order or biology.  Book has lots of comedy, pop culture and history references making it enjoyable to consume.  Very thought provoking.  Touches on some unpopular, but truthful topics of how horrible humanity can be (ie slavery).  I will say it is a long read and took me all month to finish.  I felt I was reading a graphic textbook.  But I enjoyed nonetheless.  Definitely recommend.
