The 1619 Project Born on the Water is an amazing children's version.  "Ours is no immigration story"  Very powerful beautiful story, that will spark many questions.  It tells the story of African people identity and culture prior to slavery, what happened during slavery and how America was built on the backs of slavery so we should be proud of America.  The illustrations are beautiful.  This would make an amazing gift. 

I enjoyed Harrow County Family Tree Vol 4, but wish there was more back story on the family members.  I think Emmy is smelling her pants a bit without finding out more information.  This volume had a lot of bloody fun.  I can see there is definitely more drama to come.  I'm trying to figure if I'm gonna have to choose between Emmy and Bernice.  We shall see. These books are quick reads. 

Harrow County Snake Doctor Vol 3 showed Bernice getting into the action, learning a new role.  I'm excited to see where that leads.  I like how this book dispells the common perception that the old creepy lady is always bad.  I think Chapter 4 looks completely different than the rest of the chapters, almost like a whole new series.  The ending like a movie.  Looking forward to more of Bernice. 

Vol 2 Harrow County Twice Told is a wild ride with a shocking reveal at the beginning.  I loved the plot play on good and evil with the characters.  I like how Emmy is embracing her powers and getting out of her shell.  The haint on haint crime was cataclysmic, if short. I like the diverse haints shown.  I didn't understand some of the dialogue with one haint, but it didn't detract from the story.  The illustrations make many of the characters look like they have face bruises.  Overall, a great story. Looking forward to continuing.

Vol 1 Harrow County sounds almost biblical in how Hester was created and also created.  This story contains references to haints which are evil spirits.  Apparently they are common place in Harrow County, so I will roll the that.  I thought story was interesting and just quirky enough with Emmy running around with a haint in her bag.  I like how she gained confidence throughout the book.  I wonder that the next book has in story because the ending was confusing.  Graphics are shadowy that makes it seem like everyone has bruises.

Saint follows the renewed love story of younger Bell brother Aiden and his man Elijah.  This is story gave lots of information about the somewhat solitary life of monks, who happen to love beer.  I reflect on how beautiful it is to find peace in nature at the monasteries, quiet reflection and comradship with the monastic brotherhood, yet not partake in the carnal pleasures God has also designed.  Thus is the conundrum of Aiden, aka Brother Patrick.  I enjoyed the variety of monks and the diverse backgrounds they all had.  I did listen via audio and the voices were fun and varied. There were several sexy scenes, but not overkill.  I enjoyed the storyline, but couldn't help thinking how realistic it would be for the church to pay for a trip and allow your ex boyfriend to tag along.  Good story, well done.  Lots of serious themes including mental illness. However, it was long for a smutty romance. 

Yes, we got some diversity in the mix with Sinner. Which was a great excuse to include a racism storyline and have that conversation. I will say it was handled very well, and the commentary was pretty accurate. We also have age gap love, which is always dicey.  I enjoyed Sean and Zenny's story.  It reminded me of the movie Sweet November where Keanu agreed to stay with Charlize Theron for a month to try to attain a more fulfilled life.  Although this book is definitely more erotic. I think Sean is a sap (just like his brother Tyler), masquerading as an ahole (you see early on there is depth to him).  Zinny is a wide eyed dreamy nympho.  I loved it.  There is not as much sexy stuff as Priest and a bit more tame in locations, but steamy nonetheless. Vegetable oil has many uses.  You get into some serious issues in this book regarding chronic illness and grief which I didn't expect.  Beautiful explanations.  This author has a very realistic view in life, and I like that. Well done followup.  Looking forward to what Aiden working with in Saint.

Midnight Mass slowly does a recap of Priest main points throughout the book.  I felt Tyler was immature and downright disrespectful to Poppy at one point.  I was pissed she brushed that off.  He annoyed me throughout the book and made me want to get through it as quickly as possible to be done.  He's like a horny insecure teenager.  Also I felt there was a tease of certain characters, then they dropped away.  I saw a certain story line coming way earlier in the story, and was surprised it took a dramatic sentimental twist.  And that twist is handled extremely well, which is why I bumped this book to a 4 star.  And I appreciate Sierra Simone's personal explanation in the back of the book about it.  Well done.  I am happy to know what happened to them, but so ready to hear about other people. 

Smutty fun. Quick to the sex, really quick. I would not have minded more suspenseful lead up. Right off the gate Fr. Bell does no behave like a priest and Poppy is entirely inappropriate.  She in the  wrong way before he even touches her. And he is an immature dude that seems to only think with his loins and jumps to conclusions rather quickly. And regardless of the love they shared, they both deserve to go to hell for the church scenes. I will never look at an altar the same way again. I refuse to be touched by any cloths or oils from a church ever again. I did not like the ending at all. Miscommunication and no followup. It was just dumb. The end drama and resolution is why I gave this book 3 stars. Otherwise the sexy sexy is five all the way. It is smutty but not over the top, hardcore. Well done in making me, and the hubby flush.

Invisible Girl was just OK for me. It was suspenseful and had a good twist in the end.  Also it left you guessing when the book ended.  However, the book did not wow me.  I wanted more to happen, some excitement and was let down.  It does has trigger of sexual assault,which is all too real.  I do think while much of the book was realistic, there was a part that was not regarding what happens post accusation of SA.  But overall, good book.
