May return to this eventually. The writing is strong, but it’s so episodic that I can’t find any momentum to continue.

Incredibly British contemporary YA about a gay 14-year-old boy who goes on a not-so-romantic caravan park holiday with his family and ends up thirsting over the wrong guy while the right guy is hiding in plain sight (of course). Cute but a bit frustrating. Felt slightly out of date. Meh

CW for iffy consent, sexual harassment

I was meh on the first volume of this manga exploring kink, but I liked this one much better! None of the characters are really likable yet, but the dialogue about taboo is compelling! And I really like the author's notes at the end.

Goldie is a queer teen sleuth who lives in/works at a Florida resort in the 60s. Not totally sure why this is written as a middle-grade book rather than YA, but it's fun! This one is about some hijinks that occur when a movie is filmed at the hotel. Based on Hope Larson's comic book series (which I love & highly recommend). Start there for sure!

Retelling that involves a lot of content about a waffle business for some reason??

Steven Kellogg lovesss to do an illustration that will terrify me specifically

A lonely farmer befriends nature in the southwestern desert. Beautiful, beautiful book.

Beautiful folk tale retelling! I had never heard this story before, but it really stuck with me. The illustrations are so lovely, and it's refreshing to read a story about a community welcoming and sharing knowledge of the magical without trying to capture or tame it.
