Super silly! Would make a great read-aloud for a group of young kids who have just learned to recognize animals/notice when the words don't quite match the pictures...

While it was way outside my usual reading preferences, I found this novel compelling & engaging. I struggled to feel any attachment to the characters, though (they all speak with the same pseudo-intelligent, navel-gazing voice). 2.5/5

So hard to read—and yet I read it cover to cover in one sitting.

DNF (audio) @ 60%.

The plot interests me, but I find the narrator so insufferable (both in the past, which he is recounting, as well as in the present, via the recounting itself). He is completely self-absorbed and self-pitying, without any real hint of growth. While this may be the point of the novel, I just can't put up with it any longer.

Interesting topic, but with bloggy, choppy writing that continually centers the author (fine if that’s your taste, but it’s not mine). 2.5 stars

exactly what I wanted and needed

DNF 20%. So much to keep track of (50 gods, 6 realms, layered stories), and I have to say it’s not holding my attention.

Not gonna lie, I’m still pretty confused
