Without the dual narrative storytelling that was present in Ancillary Justice, the second volume in the series loses momentum and becomes a lengthy meditation on manners and propriety. I still enjoyed this book, but it certainly pales in comparison to the first.
Another super fun adventure! I love how these books inspire me to do further research about places, monuments, animals, tech. I wish I’d had them to read when I was a kid!

Unfortunately, I don’t think I can get into this. I can feeeel the authors straining to work a bunch of real-life events into the story without losing artistic style. Sometimes it works. A lot of the time, it doesn’t work. I felt exactly the same way reading Betty Before X.
