I wanted to get invested in this story so badly, but it's just not clicking for me right now. The writing is incredible and the concept is exceedingly original, so I plan to come back to it at some point.

I was so excited to read this book, but there's something really off about it. The story is told in a non-linear way (as far as I can tell), and the result of this is that there is no built up intrigue as to what will happen. I also feel a startling emotional disconnect with the narration of Clytemnestra. This doesn't feel worth my time.
I received a digital review copy of this title from Edelweiss.

Danny Tozer, a trans girl dealing with her abusive dad and a society where she feels out of place, gains not only the physical appearance to match her identity when the superhero Dreadnought dies in front of her, but his powers as well. Although Danny gains superstrength and the power of flight, she soon learns that regardless of the way she looks, people will treat her well or poorly based on the quality of THEIR character.
This book is super fun, pretty well written (although a bit redundant at times), and important in terms of representation! I love how Daniels has created a story that both hinges upon an important social issue and is not reduced to that issue alone.

Cute illustrations but WEAK rhymes and super basic, overdone kind of story

I don't like the art (why one sideways eyebrow??), the lettering is terrible and I don't know why, and the characters are annoying as all get out. Why would I want to read a book about a bunch of kids just constantly insulting and yelling at each other? And there's a LOT of girl-on-girl hate, which I cannot stand and will not tolerate.

Something about this book is really bothering me. The concept is smart and interesting, but I keep getting thrown by how stark and emotionless the writing is. The characters just don't react to their circumstances in a natural way, which prevents me from getting attached emotionally.

Childishly written, with interjections of information about the Celts that come across as lessons rather than natural components of the story. None of the dialogue feels natural.

Thieves and wizards and ghosthounds- I thought I would love this. Unfortunately, it's just kinda boring and like Fine but nothing special.
