This wasn’t as thriller-y as I was expecting. To me it was just more like a mystery. I did really enjoy the two main characters and the queer representation.

Is an angel not always a hunter, is a hunter not always an angel? it replied. As long as the target is a monster.
Akwaeke Emezi can't miss! Their beautiful writing brings to life a heartfelt story about the 'monsters' that hide away in our world(s) and how we can face them, even in fear. In Pet, Emezi has created a utopian city called Lucille where monsters have been driven out, they 'don't exist anymore.' But Jam and her best friend Redemption learn that no matter what the adults say, if we forget about monsters that's how they find ways to come back.
Graphic: Child abuse, Violence
Moderate: Pedophilia, Sexual assault

- Eating fish/seafood is not vegetarian
- Cows are not 'dangerous' - no more so than a horse which is a similar sized animal
- Dairy farms do not milk cows by hand - describing it this way just perpetuates this fake reality that cows on dairy farms are 'happy' and not the reality that they are continually abused for their milk.
- Apparently if you don't like barbecue you're now a fascist (that was the last straw and I really don't care that it was a joke)
If you're looking for a rom-com with cooking and trans rep perhaps try Chef's Kiss (which has less eye roll food situations).
Graphic: Transphobia
Moderate: Animal cruelty, Animal death, Alcohol
