I'm obsessed with this book fr!!! From the first chapter I was *screaming* at how much I loved Chloe and Jeremy. This book focuses mainly on their relationship and most of the time they are just bantering and pining for each other.
I also just adored Chloe's father Mr. Fong and their hustle to become the best selling sauce in the land in order to bring down his nemesis (this is a side plot but I loved it).
I usually find the one bed/room trope to be overused, but this was just hilarity and amazing how it was done.

I honestly can't wait to reread this and I need to get my own copy immediately to highlight every line.

Cozy sci-fi kinda mystery with a MC that is just a riot to read. Murderbot is constantly exasperated with humans and tbh, I get it! I look forward to reading the rest of the series to see what journey Murderbot goes on!

I find rating classics to be so difficult cause I really just don’t think I have a brain for them. Honestly I’d skip the read and just watch the 2020 movie adaptation which is delightful.

  • WLW friends to lovers
  • new to college life (freshman)

This one read a little young for me, but I think it's perfect for college-aged people! I think both main characters were well described in terms of their past and how that has affected their relationships (or lack there of). Molly was a bit of a struggle to read as her anxiety is overwhelming (to her), but knowing people who struggle with that level of anxiety I can understand it. The plotline of Alex helping Molly overcome this anxiety to ask out her crush was cute. Overall if you're the right age for this one I think it's generally a cute read, it just wasn't personally a fav for me.

I know this is meant as a Pride and Prejudice reimagining with a gender reversed couple (Trisha = Darcy and DJ = Elizabeth) but I really struggled with liking Trisha as a character. Yes she has character growth, but I found her to be so stuck up and had a hard time kind of forgiving her actions at the beginning of the book. I wasn't particularly attached to this story. It's definitely a slow-burn romance like P&P (nothing happens until the very end). I'd argue it's very loosely even a romance as most of the book deals with Trisha's family drama. It's also a very long book for what it is.

I would've DNF'd if I wasn't reading this for a read-a-thon and I didn't want to throw away the hours I spent reading. I seriously considered at about 50% when I was really uninterested in the story, but decided to stick through til the end. Unfortunately it didn't really get any better. Overall just a very boring read, with characters I couldn't really empathize with. I honestly couldn't really even call this a fantasy - barely any magic (from what I could glean it was hinted at Evi's mom) and some magical kind of creatures? I guess it was a medieval time period, but nothing much else about this book besides there being knights made it feel that way? I think this book had an interesting concept, but really wasn't executed well. I won't be continuing the series.

Also please, why do we care about a dimple THAT much? It was mentioned over and over.

Katee Robert is fast becoming one of my fav romance authors.

This book made me feel things... I was not expecting such depth from a monster romance.

This series is just so good. Please read the author's note at the beginning for content warnings. This one starts off very dark. I thought the metaphor for the shop which Antsy runs away to being a nexus to other worlds for children whom have experienced some kind of trauma/abuse and therefore have to grow up too fast was just perfection. I'll continue to read this series as long as Seanan writes more!

Interesting world building. Lots of plot twists (which were all fairly predictable but still enjoyable to read). I really felt like there were some pacing issues since there were parts that felt like they dragged on. I also didn’t really feel all that invested in the characters -we didn’t get to spend enough time with any of the side characters for me to form any attachment. Except for Leo whom I love with my whole heart.
I have high hopes for the sequel based on where this one left off I think it could be a very different book so I will be reading.

This book gave me Miyazaki vibes and I say that as someone who strongly dislikes the comparison of almost any book to his movies because I rarely agree. I was specifically thinking about Laputa a lot, but also bits of Howl's and Spirited Away.

Just really beautiful writing, very descriptive imagery that built a very lush and intriguing world. I am very excited to read the sequel.
