I can't actually choose on how to properly rate it for now??
Listen, I loved the general idea. I loved the gory horror vibes we had the more the book progressed. I would instantly die for Harrow so she could use my bones, and Gideon can smash me with that sword of hers but there were so many ways the writing didn't exactly click for me?
It was hard to visualize most scenes, and while the writing and narrative style definitely fit with Gideon not having a goddamn clue what was going on 24/7, it didn't always work for me (also I have the probably biggest aversion to the word "said", especially when the rest of the writing works well for me, so that took me out of scenes faster than you can blink).
On the other hand, the plot was brilliant and something I have never read before, the characters were beautiful and fucked up, the fight scenes were INCREDIBLE and the ending made me very sad...
I think I'll stick with 3.5/5 stars for now and give it a 4 star to round it up but I'm not sure if it'll stay that way!
