I really enjoyed "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo." It was a bit slow-paced in the beginning and I was confused on what was going on in the beginning, but it quickly picked up and gave you background knowledge on the Blomkvist-Wennerstrom situation. The characters were brilliant. Personally, I loved Lisbeth Salander because she was a girl who didn't take sass from anyone and always fought hard. Her interactions with her new guardian show you just how strong she is. Blomkvist was also a strong character and I loved his journalistic attitude and his defiance toward Henrik Vanger at the end. The Vanger family mystery was compelling. Harriet Vanger disappeared at 16 and her uncle, Henrik Vanger, hires Blomkvist to solve the mystery about what happens to her. The story unravels as Blomkvist and Salander delve deeper into the history and lives of the Vanger family on Hedestad Island. The novel became very gripping at this point; I stayed up late into the night reading it. I would recommend "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" to anyone who likes a good mystery. However, this is not for younger readers because the content can be very graphic at parts and at times it was hard to read through the graphic pieces of the book.

I really loved this book, the storyline was great and executed beautifully.

Four stars only because it's a tad bit dramatic for my tastes.

Also, confused about the existence of a second book because this one ended so well. But I will read it anyways.
