I was absolutely slogging through this book so I decided to read the end and what the heck?! You mean to tell me she was HIDING IN THE WOODS THIS WHOLE TIME?! Anyways, glad to put this down and move onto other books.

What a rollercoaster of a book! Definitely one of the more captivating (and chaotic) bildungsromans I've ever read. I'll be thinking about Lazi and her friends for a long time. Additionally, all of the references to crocodiles make me want to look up Taiwan's queer history!

Incredible premise, with excellent ideas to think upon. However, I felt that the author didn’t fully allow for certain core messages to shine through the text.

I’m finding this hard to rate because on one hand, the prose was immaculate, but on the other hand, this book was DENSE. Nevertheless, I’m excited to read more from Lispector!

One of the more innovative poetry collections I’ve picked up! Definitely going to seek out more narrative and epic poetry collections.

Loved the writing, loved the immersive atmosphere, HATED the fatphobia, and wished the relationships between the main character and her mom and Max were fleshed out more. Overall, I enjoyed the book but thought it tried to tackle too much. Excited to read The Rooftop by this author!
Graphic: Animal death, Chronic illness, Fatphobia
