I loved the first third of this book! However, as it went on and focused more on the Church of Conjoined Eaters, I found my interest waned. I wish the book concentrated more on the relationships between A, B, and C as opposed to the cult.
Still, I found Alexandra Kleeman's writing to be brilliant - I loved how she discussed consumerism and consumption. I'll definitely be checking out her other works!

As soon as I saw how the gay relationship was written in this book I said NOPE.

Like assigned reading for college, in a good way! A good introduction to Leo Bersani, and I'll definitely read more of his writing in the future.
Additionally, I feel like Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore is a modern contemporary of Bersani, so I'd love to read her work soon!

Fledgling

Octavia E. Butler

Did not enjoy the narrative style of this book at all. The narrator being an amnesiac caused the book’s pace to drag tremendously. Additionally, the fact that she was in a child’s body and having sex with a grown adult made me uncomfortable. I am excited to check out Octavia Butler’s other works, but this was not a good starting point.

Overall a solid collection of short stories. The Irates and the last three stories were particular standouts for me.

Started this for the laughs but don’t see myself coming back to this anytime soon.
