Found this one to be underwhelming to be honest. I understand its overall societal critique and messaging; however, I have read other books that are similar thematically that got the point across with more impact.
I would have enjoyed this book more if I was listening to it as an audiobook. The premise is fantastic but the experience of reading this book physically was D E N S E.
I can appreciate why people love this book, I just personally couldn’t get into it. Maybe I’ll try this as an audiobook in the future as I feel like the screenplay format would work better on audio.
I tried to get into this, I really did. But it was just too meandering for my taste.
Too heavy and depressing for me at the moment. May return at a future point.
This book was more autobiographical than I anticipated, which I’m not really in the mood to read right now. Maybe I’ll revisit this in the future.
I'll eventually return to this one - I'm reading too many books right now and had to put this on hiatus
I can see why people like this book, but it just wasn’t for me. There were some brilliant lines and Edie is a fascinating protagonist; I just couldn’t get past the MFA-heavy language of the book.
DNF’d after Chapter 6. Could not get into this writing style.
Sorry Zizek, this was way too dense for my brain to handle.
