💬: "Had human life ever mattered to Doro beyond his interest in human husbandry? Could a creature who had to look upon ordinary people literally as food and shelter ever understand how strongly those people valued life?

Mind of my Mind is the second book in the Patternist series by Octavia E. Butler. I think it's my least favorite out of the series, along with Patternmaster.
This is the story of a few of Doro's children, but in particular, this is the story of Doro's child Mary. From a young age Doro could tell that Mary would have immense power after she psychically transitioned so he decides that he wants to ensure her protection.
Eventually, after her transition, Mary grew to develop what's known as The Pattern, which is a psychic avenue that telepaths can use connect with each other. Mary develops this "Pattern" and then proceeds to gather some of Doro's active telepaths from around the country. After collecting a few active telepaths Mary decided to connect with lantents, people who have psychic potential but they're not active telepaths.
After Mary connects with the actives and latents, well things start to get messy. I won't spoil anything for you, I'll just say that this is honestly worth the read even if I didn't like it as much as some of the other Patternist novels.
This is my second time reading Mind of My Mind and I honestly enjoyed the story more the second time around. I gave Mind of My Mind a 4 out of 5 the first time I read it, this time I'm going to give it a 4.5 out of 5.

I really love Bloodchild and Other Stories by Octavia E. Butler. It's a book of short stories and a few essays by Butler and it's just so damn good.
My favorite stories in the book are The Evening and The Morning and The Night, Speech Sounds, Amnesty, and The Book of Martha. Although the other stories aren't my favorite, I still think they were very good.
Overall I give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars.

I enjoyed the art in this comic so much! It's to the point of wanting printings of the different individual issue covers! I need to give the book 4 stars based on the art alone. I don't think I'll give it the final star because I think the story needed to be fleshed out a bit more. For example, I think that the storyline about Akai being murdered by the police needed to be discussed more, nothing happened as far as justice or punishments. Akai got to live again because of his mother so that is an ending that I really like.
Wow, this was really spicy! There were some parts that I didn't care for, like when the sex was too rough. I.E - He tells her that he's going to "take" anal from her if she doesn't give it to him and that made my skin crawl. Father Bell also talked about God a lot, I understand that he's a priest but I wish we got more scenes of him just doing non priest related things (other than fking Poppy!).
I'm an atheist and I still really enjoyed this story. I took a star off for the things mentioned above. The story even made me teary-eyed towards the end. I can't wait to read the rest of the series !
