My Love Story!!, Volume 7 by Kazune Kawahara is as wholesome and funny as the first 6 volumes of the series. This volume picks up right where volume 6 left off, someone has been following Takeo and Sunakawa and Takeo finally finds out who they are and why they've been following the boys so closely.
Her name is Yukika and she's had a crush on Sunakawa for over 10 years (since pre-school!) She finally feels brave enough to meet Sunakawa and she asks Takeo and Yamato for some help introducing herself.

The story was really cute and there were a few "laugh out loud" moments. This wasn't my favorite volume of My Love Story, but it was still a really good volume.  I really enjoyed the story so I'm going to give this 4 out of 5 stars

The Demon's Bargain by Katee Robert is the 5th book in the "Deal with a Demon" series. This book is about Ramanu, the demon that helps Azazal (and Azazal is the demon who makes 7 year contracts with human woman.) I loved having a non-binary main character , other than that this was just okay.

Ramanu is summoned by a witched name Lenora (Lenora is the granddaughter of a witch who tried to have a romantic and sexual relationship with Ramanu in the past but it didn't work out.)  and she asks for their help locating her ex, a man who stole a family heirloom from her, a necklace. They work on getting the necklace back but not before having some sexual fun with each other. The plot was just alright, it wasn't anything too exciting.

The spice in this was okay, nothing spectacular so I'm giving it two chilies 🌶️🌶️ out of five chilies. What I didn't like was the small amount of blood play (that wasn't tagged as such), it made my skin crawl and I couldn't get into the spicy scenes.

Overall, this was just okay. The story was fine but I didn't love the spicy scenes so I'm giving this

Tangle of Need is the 11th book in the Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh, it's about two Snow Dancer wolves Adria & Riaz, and
the impending war between the Changeling and the Psy.
The first half of the book is just a lot of planning for the conflict mixed in with the romance of the two main characters as well as some side characters, the last half of the book has a lot of action.

Adria and Riaz are the main characters in this book and they don't like each other. They both find themselves having to work together and soon they end up
hooking up while on their errand
and that complicates things, not just because they don't even like each other, but because they both have a lot of baggage that neither of them are willing to deal with just yet. This is one of my first experiences with enemies to lovers and it wasn't bad. I don't think it's my favorite romance trope but it was enjoyable enough.

The Psy/Changeling conflict has come to a head in this novel, I don't want to spoil anything so I'll leave it at that.

There were a few spicy scenes, they were good but not spectacular. I'm giving it three chilies 🌶️🌶️🌶️ out of five chilies

Overall I enjoyed the action, the banter, the romance, and the spice. I'm giving this 4 stars out of 5.

Loki by Katherine Locke is a novelization of Kieron Gillen's graphic novel of the same name. I thought it was adventurous, funny, and exciting. There's a prophecy that says great danger is coming and the only one who can save everyone is Thor, the catch is that Thor's success depends on his brother Loki. This book is full of fantasy, adventure, humor, and it's all tied together by mythology.

I enjoyed the audio narration, I think the narrator did a really good job of conveying emotion, determination, and humor throughout the audiobook.

This book was definitely a journey and it was funny so I enjoyed it that much more. I'm giving this 3.5 stars out of 5.

Every Heart a Doorway is an interesting novella by Seanan McGuire and I'm glad my friend Bree suggested that I read it. I went into this story without knowing the premise and I think that was a great choice, so I won't say too much about the book. I'll just say that I really appreciated the asexual representation and I liked that this book kept my interest for it's duration, even though it was really short.

Overall I enjoyed this novella, I'm going to give it 4 stars out of 5.

Dragon Bound by Thea Harrison is an exciting and hilarious paranormal romance novel about a half human half wyr woman named Pia who gets blackmailed into stealing a coin from a dragon's hoard. Pia steals a coin from the dragon Drogos' hoard and once he gets his hands on her a really funny and exhilarating adventure takes place.

Drogos and Pia are so cute, even though this novel takes place or the course of about a week or two their chemistry was really nice. There was one trope that I don't like in general
(the pregnancy trope)
, so when it popped up in this book I thought I would be okay with it but I still didn't like it, that was the only thing that I disliked about the book.

I'm giving this 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ four chilies out of five chilies worth of spice, the spice in this was very very spicy and enjoyable, I definitely listened to one scene more than once. All of the scenes were sexy and most of them were romantic.

This book was definitely enjoyable, funny, and spicy. I'm excited to read the rest of the series. I'm giving this 4.5 stars out of 5.

Imago is the final book in the Xenogenesis trilogy by Octavia E. Butler, and it was interesting but a bit more thoughtful and deep than the first two books in the series. I didn't find this book as exciting as the first two, but I do value how thought provoking this book is, it made me think about; racism/xenophobia, humanity, community, and colonization.

Jodahs is another one of Lilith's children but it is metamorphosing into an Ooloi, the first human Ooankali Ooloi construct. As a result of it's changes and the danger it now poses, it has to exile for a while until it can get in complete control of it's new abilities. The story goes on from there.

I honestly enjoyed how thought provoking this was, even though it didn't have as much action as the first and second novels. I also love how community is a theme in all of Butler's books, and this one is no exception.

This is just my first read, I think on further reads I'll be able to enjoy the story more because I'll understand more of how I feel after having read it from beginning to end again. As of now, I don't know how I feel about the Oonakali.
On the one hand, they're strong arming the future of the human race, on the other hand the saved what was left of the human race. I don't know how I feel. I know that this an allegory for colonization, so either way the Oonakali are creepy with their desires and expectations of what's left of the human race.

Overall I enjoyed this for what it was and even though it was slow in a few places it was still a good read. I'm giving this 3.5 stars out of 5.

Bitten by Kelley Armstrong is the first novel in her Women of the Otherworld series of paranormal romance stories. The book was okay, there were some things I didn't like and there were some things I liked.

Bitten is the story of a female werewolf named Elena. She has a pack that she used to run with but she's been trying to live more like a human so the book starts off with her a Canadian city. She lives with her boyfriend and works for a popular news paper. One day Elena gets a call from the pack leader tell her that he needs her back in the area, because there have been a few murders in their territory. The story goes on from there.

I found the main character to be a little dim in some situations.
At one point Elena is being held at gun point by a known child molester. She had previously broken his wrist in the scene before and she did it to prove a point to him and now he is angry with her and threatening to kill. For some dumb reason Elena doesn't believe that this man will kill, let alone shoot her. She doesn't believe it until...you guessed it, until he finally shoots her.

The book was entertain in certain parts and boring in others, I don't think it needed to be over 500 pages. There wasn't enough going on for there to be 500 pages worth of entertaining story, unfortunately. There was also a scene at the beginning of the book, with the main character and an ex, where there is a dubious consent sex scene. It was really unpleasant to read. The the main character begins to blame herself for "cheating on her boyfriend". This part was terribly outdated, he basically assaulted her and she blames herself and there's no one to help her through the self blame.

Because of the dubious consent at the beginning of this novel, even though there were consensual sex scenes later in the novel they felt uncomfortable. I'm giving this 🌶️🌶️ two chilies out of five chilies worth of spice, I don't care if the later scenes were supposed to be sexy, they just weren't because of the initial dubious consent.

This novel was honestly too long and I didn't like that there was dubious consent, so I can't give this any higher than 3 stars out of 5.

Cosmic Detective by Matt Kindt & Jeff Lemire is science fiction comic about a detective trying to figure out who killed a god and how it was done. This was really interesting, I think the art and the story came together to make one exciting comic.

Right away I noticed the really unique art, which was done by David Rubín, and I fell in love with the colors and the style. The story had it's common tropes
like the missing pregnant woman trope
but I think the story was still interesting. I would read this again for a second time to see if I missed anything during my initial read, but I'm not sure if I'd read this a third time.

Overall, I really enjoyed this comic! I'm not sure if it's supposed to be a stand alone or if it's going to be a series, which is fine because I liked it for what it is. I'm giving this 4 out of 5 stars.

Solanin: An Epilouge by Inio Asano is a slice of life sequel to Solanin by the same mangaka, it was really nice in terms of the art but the story itself was really lacking in terms of information about all the characters. The short story is about Meiko and how she's been after 10 years have passed. It doesn't really shed a light on the other band members, they only make an appearance at the end of the story.

I think it would have been more interesting to follow each band member to see where they've gotten to in life, instead we follow Meiko and all get is her talking about where her life is headed. The art was beautiful but the story was very boring.

I loved the art but I didn't see a reason for this publication, basically nothing happened. I'm giving this 2.5 stars out of 5
