Ending this book in tears as I don’t want it to be over

I’m starting to love second chance romances and Kaliyah and Danny’s story was no different! I was rooting for them through every chapter and wishing they would communicate better at some points LOL. Wonderful debut novel for Myah Ariel! I loved the messages conveyed through the story.

“I was supposed to […] soul search for who I want to become other than the girl who dreamed big but lived small”

“He was music I could listen to forever”
I blindly read this book after enjoying Seven Days in June! Having no idea of the plot, the fantasy/magic element and odes to the Harlem Renaissance were unexpected but as the story continued I grew to love it! It was refreshing from the realistic romances we read about. I love Ricki’s boldness to go after her dreams and after love!

If it wasn’t an audiobook I probably would have DNF. This book is quite dark and I truly wasn’t a fan of the thriller turned romance. I was engaged to the end solely because I wanted to know the details of their crime but too much time was spent on the romance for me.

Whew! Janelle & Rome had me blushing, giggling, and screaming! Rome is hands down I’m the top 3 of book boyfriends! While their romance starts as casual and fun, I enjoyed their development as a “couple” but also individually!
Janelle learning to prioritize herself, going for her dreams, and having the courage to have hard but needed conversations was so relatable!

I will say I surprised that the primary setting of the book was in Tulum. I expected more of their story once they got back home. But maybe that will be revealed in another book!

Thought provoking read on the topics of marriage, commitment, autonomy, and the unexpected turns life can take. I couldn’t say I was rooting for any particular character throughout the novel — especially Roy. Even prior to him being horribly wronged by the justice system, I was not a fan of his character.
I enjoyed the writing style of the author. The letters section was unique and an excellent method to narrate what took place during his imprisonment. This isn’t a novel to read for enjoyment, which is my preference, but overall wanting to know the resolution kept me reading.

Curvy girl summer is a great blend of friends to lovers and a slow burn! Aaliyah is a curvy and successful millennial woman looking for love before her 30th birthday. As her birthday approaches we journey with her through the struggle that is dating. While there were time when I wish she was more optimistic, I’m glad she never gave up on finding her person. Midway through I could predict what the ending would be and I felt like we were stalling the inevitable but with time the love came

My New Favorite Book and Author

WOW! 5 ⭐️ There is so much I could say about this stunning book. We journey with Caprice through the atrocities of her youth and into adulthood. Over the years she lives through the crippling impacts of her trauma, but perseveres to experience true care, love, and healing through her friends and chosen family. Fast will take you on an emotional roller coaster — like shock, anger, excitement, optimism, and joy! If you liked Seven Days in June, I think you’d like this read. I appreciate the author’s level of detail and the amount of closure we get towards the ending of the book. I can’t wait to read more from Millie Belizaire

A very thought-provoking read! I’d recommend everyone to read this book and consider how we have received, are receiving, and give love. The book highlights not only romantic relationships but all - ourselves, children, friends, family, and our community. 4.5 ⭐️

A few quotes that stuck with me:

“When we are loving we openly and honestly express care, affection, responsibility, respect, commitment, and trust."

“care is a dimension of love, but simply giving care does not mean we are loving”

"To know love we have to tell the truth to ourselves and others. Creating a false self to mask fears and insecurities has become so common that many of us forget who we are and what we feel underneath the pretense. "

“True love is unconditional, but to truly flourish it requires an ongoing commitment to constructive struggle and change.”
