Yay! I finally reread Backstage Pass and I still love it! Writting this post I actually want to start it all over again. Yes, I am a smidge… okay majorly obsessed with this book. Once you meet Brian you will be too. He is so freaking adorable and sexy all at once. There is no doubt at all that he is a romantic. I loved how much he wanted to get close to Myrna, to share more than his bed with her but his whole heart as well.

Myrna on the other hand has been hurt by love and she is not going to let those four little words try to work their power play on her. She is in it for the fun and just wants to take things a day at a time. I loved that Myrna was a Sex Psychologists with an internal struggle when it came to that very topic. There is no doubt she has been put through the ringer but the whole time I was like, “don’t be dumb and don’t you dare hurt my Brian!” haha I’m a little crazy over my fictional character but aren’t we all? Even with their emotional problems festering under the surface these two set off a spark and knew how to keep things interesting.

Of course I love Myrna and Brian but what I love the most is just the interactions with everyone in the band. They are their own little family and welcome Myrna openly. They are hilarious always picking on each other but caring as well. They bring a lot of the entertainment. I have already read the series but I look forward to rereading the rest of them and falling for each band member all over again.

I devoured Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo! I cried, felt sorrow but also love, hope and joy. I could not put it down. This is my second book by Elizabeth and she has really become a favorite author. I typically gravitate towards romance books but in the end I’m just a sucker for love in general and the complexity and love within families get me every time! This book is another example of how complex humans are and our capacity to hold and unpack those complexities. The layers in this book gently wrapped their hands around my heart and squeezed. Do yourself a favor and pick up her work. ⁣⁣

When Gwen’s husband completely abandons Gwen and their daughter in the midst of a political scandal Gwen is left broke and homeless. The real kicker is that Gwen is far from surprised. Her relationship with Jesse was a sham from the start. Enter Reade, their mutual friend and the man that has been pining away for Gwen since he first met her. In an effort to keep Gwen from moving away and creating some stability for Maddie, Gwen's daughter, he invites them to live with him through the end of the school year. When you’ve got two people secretly in love with each other under one roof it is just a matter of time for those years of control to snap!

The thing is they don’t think the other is into them
