This book was weirdly heavy? It's a fantasy book, but the social commentary is REAL. It was enlightening and beautiful, it makes me want a house made of plants, it makes me want to be an eco-activist and to protest EVERYTHING wrong in the world with renewed frustration and vigor. I've never been a big fantasy person or a big sci-fi person, but I will be forever thankful for my friend Michelle for recommending this.

I first read this book my freshman year of high school, thanks to the suggestion of my librarian, Mrs. Garrett. It was profound then, and it's profound now. Sometimes all it takes is a shift of perspective.

I loved this. It was beautifully written, entertaining in addition to being educational, and just FUN to read. And I now have an overwhelming desire to swim constantly and join a Renaissance Faire.
