This was a unique story. I loved the story with some slow burn, some murder mystery mixed with fantasy and a dash of romance.
Davina struggles with accepting all of herself and her past and our assassin is just there to support her and help her.
There were some plot twists and betrayals that you don't see coming.
The switch between POVs is seamless.
I would love some deeper dives into internal motivations that really help you see the characters emotions about the plot developments.
For a debut novel it's a great story! I can't wait to see what happens next.

This book is lovely and thought provoking. It drives home what being a woman is like and the loss of history and practices that weren't passed down as the world shifted.
Following the journey of our MC through her history form birth to death is thought provoking, joyful and sorrowful much like life.

Morally grey, tragic back story, really the Batman we all need.
At no point did I guess the true origin story, want a neat surprise.
It reads like a journal of a man who loses everything and just take what opportunities he finds.
Dash of Dexter, Dash of Batman. Quick and fun read.

The whole first half all I wanted to do was snack some sense into Gen, her sister was on the save wave length, thank the gods.
I loved the added POVs and can't wait to see how this new romance develops.
Our found family is one force to reccon with and I know they are gonna shake some stuff up.
Also Otar is still BFF goals!
Jessica Ann Disciacca writes the best stories!

It feels like absolutely nothing happened in this book at all.
all we got was more people are lying, have been lying.
the older generation apparently would rather save themselves then the country and the younger generation will do anything to save the people they love and their county.
Xaden literally became what he hated to save the two things he loves.
Violet's parents have been hiding some REALLY IMPORTANT information because if her mom KNEW venin had signets that wound have been important information to have before now.
every family reunion in this book was a let down, how can all these 'grown ups' be so immature and stupid.
this whole book was like a never ending journey to no where and I literally wish they would just take out all the old people and be so much better off.
PS 🖕 Dain's dad.

I've been a fan since the TikTok series and the book is everything I wanted it to be!
I love the idea of the afterlife being all pantheons together and giving bad souls the punishment they deserve.
I also am a sucker for stories with adopted kids, or found kinds.
I laughed, I cried, and I got 🥵
this is a MUST read! it's beautifully written and will warm your heart.
