Thank you so much Net Galley, Tessa Bailey and Avon Books for an advance copy of this book!
Oh my goodness. After breezing through “It Happened One Summer”, I could not wait to get to the sequel. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
The sequel picks up right where the first book left off (so it would be beneficial to read the first book before the second). You have young, beautiful Hannah Bellinger who played second fiddle to her older, outgoing sister Piper and Fox, the charming local who snags all the ladies. Two complete opposites but naturally have fallen for each other.
Okay so I am not a fan of slow burn romances and this one was so exception. So that would be my bone to pick but that might be someone’s else jam just not mine. It was so frustrating to see the cat and mouse game between the two.
While this did not give me the same ooey gooey feelings as it’s precedent, it still made me feel & make me warm in the face (if you know what I mean).
The epilogue made my swoon & make my heart so happen.
It did make me wonder if there will be a third in the series and where it will go from here. And once you read, you’ll see what I mean. I have a couple ideas and those who have read, I would love to discuss!
I have rated this book a 4.5 out of 5.

Bravo! Bravo! Fans of the Bachelor this is the book for you!
I had seen so many reviews of this and it definitely lived up to the hype. I love not only the complicated relationship between Charlie & Dev but I also loved the relationship between Charlie and Parisa (we all need a best friend like her). This book dealt with topics you do not see in typical cookie cutter romance books: mental health (depression, anxiety, OCD), other dimensions of the queer culture (asexual, pansexual, demisexual), stressed overworked professional life. It gave me everything! I just love Charlie & Dev so much and will be thinking about them often.

Audiobook: 3.75 - I am probably in the minority of it but this one was just meh. When it was good, it was great but some parts just got too wordy for me and dragged on. And somehow I figured it out when that never happens. The narrators were great and I love the duel POVs.
Audiobook: I really enjoyed listening to Jessica’s audiobook. I could tell some parts were definitely harder to get through and gave a perspective of the pressures of teen pop stardom even being “3rd in line.” Which I don’t know if not being the top was better or worst because she definitely was not treated well. I really was glad that Jessica spoke in depth about her relationships with her family, men and her dependency on alcohol. Also I’m very conflicted on how I feel about John Mayer now in 2021.
Audiobook: I knew this was going to be heavy but wow!!! I thought the concept was so different and I wasn’t sure what was going to happen next. I thought the narration was well done and I couldn’t stop listening.
CW: Death of a Child, Affair, Self Harm, Grief

Audiobook: Absolutely stellar book! I kept seeing this book in the Bookstagram with positive reviews and finally decided to take the plunge! It was so beautiful & well written and I was attached to everyone. Highly recommend the audiobook & I imagine the characters come to life as well on the page.
Audiobook: Absolutely loved this!! Thought the narration was really well done. Loved hearing about the Korean culture. Also boy bands were involved? Sold!!! Great YA book & thought the listen was quick.
Absolutely beautiful!!! It took me a bit to get into the format but I really got hooked midway through. The last couple chapters is what solidified the 5 stars. Also because it’s been almost 24 hours since I’ve finished and I’m still thinking about it. I do think this could be difficult on audio because they mix the past and present within the same chapter.
Audiobook: 3.75 - Was a pretty quick listen. I love the idea that the two characters worked on a telenova. What didn’t work for me (which could be because it was audio) was the script from the telenova mixed in. If I wasn’t focused I could have missed the switch and then I’d have to think about what was going on.
Audiobook: 2.5 - I think I am even being generous with the .5. Honestly this fell flat for me. I am not sure if it’s because it’s a YA fantasy which hasn’t been good for me lately or because the text didn’t translate well to audio. I wanted so bad to like this. Perhaps if I read the physical book my feelings would be different.
