I didn't like silver linings playbook (film) and I didn't really like this either. for the same reasons I guess. it didn't really go anywhere.

For as much as I hated the atrocious story being crammed down my throat, I have to to give props to Vonnegut for knowing how to turn a phrase. Despite the lackluster plot (Oh, noes! Doomsday!) and the abominable made up religion of Bokonon (sigh and exaggerated eye roll), I really enjoy the way he writes. it's in the vein of hunter s. but not so far drugged out. I found myself laughing or smiling to myself with his imagery and syntax. he's pretty clever and we just might have been friends in another life. I read slaughterhouse before this and enjoyed it as a dark, sardonic piece. This kind of had the same elements but felt more trite to me. maybe it's like the fourteenth book of Bokonon. I will be mulling this over for a bit. also really enjoyed the short chapters, at first I thought they were too gimmicky. but afterwards, it's like having an index to refer back to. quite clever really.
