I read this book as I was going through a horrible breakup. It made me cry almost all the way through. A touching story of a woman going through a divorce. She meets a lot of great people and learns about letting people in again.
I don't usually like to leave books unfinished, but this one I should have. It was lame. I finished it because I felt obligated: I was already vested. Lame.
It's exactly what you think it will be: a book about a cat who lives in a library for something like 15 years. The author weaves in her own experiences so that you're learning town history and personal hurdles along with the solidness of a small-town library cat.
Made me cry. Easy read. Not the greatest writing but a cute story nonetheless. Something I would recommend to my mom. Or grandma.

I loved this book. I read it a long time ago. I just loved the themes: overprotective parents, sibling rivalry, fitting in high school, death.
Eugenides has a knack for describing things in a dark way that I like.

I really couldn't get into this book. Maybe it's just that I'm not at the right time in my life. I love Greek mythology and I totally support Mary Renault. I just couldn't get past the first 50 pages or so.
