Of all the feminist-slant books I've read, this is my favorite. The way Orenstein presents her case studies is well done. For me, it was eye-opening, having not been in an elementary/middle school situation for so long. I read this alongside (or, very close, temporally) Slut! (Tenenbaum) and found them both refreshing/depressing at the same time. Orenstein is a great read for this issue.
Having had a solid background in feminism and women's studies, I felt this book was a good introductory text to familiarize people with some feminist issues.
Cute! De Vries tells about her journey with her kitty, Claudius, who is old. The cat has dialogue. It's a fun, light (for the most part) read.
Over the years, I've become more skeptical about what Miss. O tells me to read. But this was a great, deep novel.
I like the books that weave stories together to create a bigger picture. This book is one of those.
Couldn't finish it, and that doesn't happen to me very often. I thought it was boring and hard to get into. I may try it again someday.
