Definitely spooky but from a modern perspective, pretty racist.

The beginning was way too slow, and it wasn't as suspenseful or scary as I expected. I would have liked it more if the characters had been more compelling, but they were all lacking with the exception of Bishop. I like the way Oliver writes, but this isn't a great example.
