So Cheryl shows up and tells Heaven that she lied the entire time about not having money, and then on the FACING PAGE Heaven is mad at Hiro and thinks to herself that Cheryl has never lied to her? Excuse me? These books are so unbelievably bad.

If I listed everything that was stupid in this book, this review would be longer than the book.

The star is for nostalgia. These are SO bad.

As part of my read-it-and-yeet-it project, I re-read this book that should have been left to die in the memory of my youth. It's unrealistic and the characters are stupid.

Meh. I'm glad we finally got answers on a lot of the story, but there was so much time devoted to Vivienne trying to decide between Kingston and Austin that I was ready to kill them both myself. If I had known Kingston was coming back from the dead, I wouldn't have wasted my time on this volume because I hate that shit.

It was also super boring watching her be the ringleader. She had no power and was just mean. It didn't advance the story but it made me like her less and then I didn't care so much what happened to her later.

I also think it was a cheap cop-out ending that Vivienne forgets everything and marries Austin but it's implied that their child will one day join the circus. And it's also pretty bullshit that she never deals with the fact that she killed her sister. She names her fucking daughter after her and it felt so cheap.

Classic middle book issues.
Not a lot of information until the very end, a stupid waste of time road trip, all the annoying tropes. I did find it very satisfying that Kingston died though, and that was surprising enough that I'm not that mad.

Insanely weird but also compelling. Definitely one that will be more enjoyable on a re-read.
