I was really enjoying this because it's some simple fluff, but Odd Thomas is such a wife guy that it was refreshing and cute. Right up until his girlfriend dies at the end. So . . . I'm one and done.

The Reapers Are the Angels

Alden Bell

DID NOT FINISH: 16%

I just want one apocalyptic novel without a graphic attempted rape or rape scene. Please.

This was so bad it almost veered into camp. There was no slow burn: you knew immediately who the bad guys were and what they were doing, so Mitch was the only character who was surprised. This ruined most of the tension, so instead of being a page-turner it was just a daily log of what these fools were up to. It was also mind-numbingly sexist.

With an outrageous and engaging start I expected this to be funnier, but it veered swiftly into a poignant family tale that isn't really my cup of tea.

Armada

Ernest Cline

What a joke. I made it 30 minutes into the audiobook (about 5%) and if I took a drink every time Cline made an 80s reference, I would already be dead.

Crying in H Mart

Michelle Zauner

DID NOT FINISH: 26%

I already disliked the narrator and her mom, but the final straw for me is when she is physically fighting both of her parents (seriously, what the fuck) and her mom says that Zauner was such a bad child that her mom had an abortion. This is not the book for me.
