Extremely gruesome from start to finish, but well-written and a great October read.

A delightful mystery romp; lighthearted, but the audio is entirely engaging.

It is rare that a book handles the slow-reveal monster trope well. <i>Girls With Sharp Sticks</i>, for example, spends the whole book tiptoeing around the fact that the girls are robots, when it's implied in the blurb already. Same for <i>Twilight</i> and scads of other YA books. What <i>Jenna Fox</i> does so well is that even while you are waiting to see what she is, you already know enough to be scared, but there is enough plot to keep you interested. And you find out early enough that you can spend the rest of the story immersed in the horror that Jenna feels, and questioning what she is.

Like all good scifi, this questions what it means to be human.

I hope to god that I never meet a man who thinks women think and act like they do in this book.

This was so exceedingly trope-heavy it felt like a parody of itself. Listened to the audio at 2x speed.

The two main characters are so unbelievably obnoxious that while I can't understand why I should care about them or why they care about each other, I can at least rest assured they deserve each other.

No part of this story made any sense, the sex scenes were terrible, the romance was forced, the plot was tissue-thin. Total waste of time.

A very boring novelization about a week or two with Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald. If this book is anything to go by, both were insufferable.
