I love the way Dodie Smith writes; it's beautiful and romantic without ever feeling forced. Neil and Simon were way too similar for me to get really invested in which one Cassandra was falling in love with, but I was thoroughly charmed by Topaz and the lady who served cherry brandy before noon and Mrs. Cotton.

A sharply well-written, concise, and bitingly humorous look at the "Age of Trump" and how factors over the last eighty or so years have led to this point. Highly, highly recommend.

I feel like the message was the quote by Albert Einstein in the endpapers that says "Peace cannot be kept by force. It can only be achieved by understanding." But it wasn't very obvious, and I wish the quote had been bigger or the message clearer.

After reading The Sound of Gravel I was equal parts fascinated and horrified by the Cult - I mean, Church of the Firstborn. This was a fascinating look at the origins of that group and Ervil's spin-off cult, the Lambs of God. It's terrifying how much power this man wielded and how much evil he wrought. My biggest complaint is that the authors jump from event to event in order to make them more dramatic, but I had a really hard time figuring out the timeline, because one chapter would end in 1975 and the next chapter would start in 1970. It would have been nice to have a timeline and list of characters, at the very least. When your subject has somewhere between 12 and 14 wives, it's really hard to remember who everyone is.

A fascinating look at the future of meat production. It was pretty horrifying to read how many resources are used in the current ag business and how terrible the conditions are. It's amazing to see how far science has come in the last few years.

Snow Crash

Neal Stephenson

DID NOT FINISH

Gave up after two chapters. I genuinely can't tell if it's meant to be funny or dramatic, but it fails hard at both.
