A remarkably interesting introduction to what it would really mean to live on Mars. This book doesn't pretend everything is perfect in the eyes of Mars One (the introduction is written by a man who admits that he doesn't believe the timeframe or cost estimate are realistic) but it does a great job of showing the hope and sense of exploration and curiosity that those involved in Mars One have, and it's exciting. The book covers health issues, technology issues, interpersonal issues, and discusses the proposed schedule of Mars One and includes quotes from the current list of candidates. It's scientific, if optimistic, and I would recommend to fans of The Martian.
A funny, simple story of friendship, love-- oh, and, I guess, hating Jews? Apparently this was a really big thing back in the day . . . Oh, the things they don't teach you in history books.
Clove narrates the soft opening of the Dragonfly Inn. Cute and goofy.
Thistle's snarky dialogue keeps a scary tale light.
Nice seeing Landon's perspective on the family.
The story starts strong: four children's darkest desires lead them to make an impossible (dare I say Faustian?) bargain, but then drags as they grow into their gifts and try to navigate high school. It takes too long for the plot to pick up, and by the time it did I didn't care anymore. Ostensibly it was an adventure about realizing what is important and loving yourself. Mostly it is forgettable.
A cute story told from the perspective of Bay's mother. It's nice to see the main three as children, teaming up with Tillie.
Chelsea Handler is an unapologetically crazy person who delights in making up extravagant lies, getting drunk, and sleeping with strangers. Her joie de vivre is apparent even as she is vomiting on a cruise ship for four hours, and I found myself admiring her tenacity while simultaneously being terrified of her very existence. A hilarious book.
Sam is one of my favorite characters so I very much enjoyed this.
These flashbacks of the girls when they were young and the craziness of their mothers are cute. I liked seeing more of the dynamics between them.
