This made me nostalgic for St. Thomas. I loved the vibrant artwork and the happy story.
I laughed out loud. This was really cute. I loved the mischievous cat face.
This was written without feeling or good pacing, with characters introduced and left by the wayside, and the only thing left is the fact that Ethan Allen, frankly, seems like kind of a dick. I felt like I was reading a book report from a fourth grader who didn't really care about history, or Ethan Allen, or anything at all. The art was better than the story, but not enough to make it worthwhile.
After making a drunken bet, Tony Hawks finds himself hitchhiking around Ireland while toting a small fridge. Add in the fact that it's 1998 and he has no cell phones and no social media and is getting his attention largely through radio interviews and occasional television spots, and you are in for a rollicking good ride. Hawks has a drunken, dangerous, ridiculous adventure that is a great way to get a feel for Ireland without reading a typical tourist guide, and it's definitely a lot more fun. Would recommend to people looking for something zany, something about Ireland, something so ridiculous it could only be true.
I love fairy tales and I love poetry so I thought I would love this, but it fell flat. The accompanying photographs were uninspired and seemed to be thrown in only to distract from the paltry poems. The poems took fairy tale elements and twisted them up into modern day issues, but after reading thirteen poems out of fifty about anorexia, I can't help but feel that Heppermann was more determined to create a book of modern poems than she was determined to actually create something interesting or new. Many of the poems are just statements on feminism, which would be great if they had substance, while others ended on such a bizarre or abrupt note that I found myself constantly checking the page number because I thought I must be missing the ending. Overall a disappointment because this could have been wonderful.
Pretty boring, and in some of the pictures the sheep look more like hippos than sheep.
A cute collection of popular children's rhymes, complete with sheet music.
