incredible. once you read it check out the app!!
Something like Moby Dick in chapter pattern and giant monsters, and still something entirely new and outrageous.
Heart-breaking, realistic, painful, and raw.
Like the cover itself, which, when splayed open on the floor reveals a highway that at first appears to be a circle but resolves into a normal highway in a round, Gluck's book spins in strange circles across strange lands. It is a story of a woman, a man, a poet of both or neither gender, traveling and writing and missing dead parents. It's strange and somehow light, all at the same time.
Like a spear point in your heart this book will make you feel every ounce of love and pain in a way that few things but Greek myths can deliver.
I highly recommend the audiobook version. Bryson himself narrates, lending to your car trip the feeling that you are traveling with a cool uncle who has traveled all over the world just so he could sit next to you and enlighten you about the heat of Australia's deserts, its poisonous beasts, and its freewheeling populace. It is a laugh out loud funny travel book from an incomparable narrator.
