A bunch of Christian hymns with short synopses of their composers. The idea behind it is great but it is a pretty boring book. The illustrations are disappointing for a Caldecott.

Like Ready Player One for middle grade, this book takes a bunch of kids and drops them in the middle of a puzzle to get out of the Smart House-style library and win fame and fortune with a heavy dose of knowledge and library-love along the way. The crazy amount of clues and the fantastical design of the library made this story a delight, and it included a brat getting his comeuppance, which may be my favorite part of middle grade literature (adult books tend to be more realistic, after all). A fun, quick read puzzle novel.
