God, this was so boring. It felt like reading the diary of the Most Boring Man Alive.
This was so boring. DNF at 11%.
I picked up this book despite all the bad reviews about how wildly inaccurate and poorly researched it was (I don't know anything about security and speed limits at JSC, but even I know that lassi is not an "unpronounceable yogurt drink").
Nevertheless, I gave up on it because its so damned boring. Mezrich blew his load on the first chapter that describes the heist itself, and then backtracks to Thad's Mormon upbringing and need to show off among his fellow interns and none of it is even the slightest bit entertaining.

I couldn't finish this. I gave up at 50%. I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Klein herself, and I'm really not sure if it was her terrible personality or her ingratiating poor-me voice but this book was painful. The most entertaining part of this whole ordeal was deciding what I hated most about Klein. Was it the fact that she's married to a man-child who at 40 years old told her he was going to propose, then he wasn't ready, nope still not ready? Was it the fact that she pays $150 an hour to listen to her therapist talk about her life so Klein doesn't have a chance to speak? Was it the fact that she is too lazy to keep up with barre classes so she has to tell us how great her butt looked while she was doing them and then disdain the whole business so she doesn't have to feel bad about not going? Is it the fact that she has an entire chapter devoted to how all women fall into one of two categories, Wolves or Poodles?
This was the most woman-hating, self-involved, irritating book I've encountered in a long time.

Giving up on this one at 22%. It's too boring. There's no magic, just Bitterblue being an idiot. There's no plot at all; Leck, the fucking dead guy from the first book, is still the antagonist. UGH.
Giving up at 35 pages, a new record for me.
I feel terrible about this. I met the author at Phoenix Comicon last year and purchased this book and the sequel, and got both signed to me by him. I was really excited about the premise.
But Red is so stupid
(she is an orphan, on her way to meet her long lost grandmother for the first time, and decides to race some other motorcyclist who she instinctively hates but is still attracted to and then drives straight toward him before realizing it's a bad idea and then blaming him when she swerves and falls off the bike and ruins her dress, and that's just one page)
and the plot is so nonsensical
(Red is a fifteen year old living in an orphanage who somehow owns a motorcycle? and despite claiming to remember nothing before the age of five when she was dumped in the orphanage, as soon as she finds her grandmother she remembers her entire first five years of her life?)
that I just want to scream.

I loved Inferno so much, I'm not sure why I can't get into this one. Maybe I'm too old.
DNF at 32%. Skipped to the end and was glad I didn't finish.
Gave up at 29%. This was just a love letter to Moby Dick. It wasn't interesting and it barely talked about whales. It felt like a journal, full of personal experiences and insipid thoughts.
