This is the first book I've finished in quite some time that, throughout the next day, keeps me asking myself WTF I just read. (WTF did I just read?!) 

The MC's own predicament in this story wasn't nearly as drab as its narration. The author may have tried to set a tone, but much like other readers, I'm left wondering how much was lost in the translation of this work.
