The Company is a defense contractor that kidnaps children and turns them into elite killing machines. They are brainwashed, tortured, and experimented on until they are “perfect” in the eyes of a madman. That is, until they are injured and no longer needed. They are the Dregs. After escaping from their former captures, the Dregs live in hiding, healing from years of abuse. Each has a special, almost paranormal, skill — tracking, healing, fighting, and more.
In the midst of destructive gang wars, Jessica’s sister Eliza is taken. Having heard rumors of a mysterious group of soldiers, she searches for The Tracker hoping she can convince him to find her sister. Jessica and Tracker have an immediate connection, one that neither of them wants. Find Eliza, move on — that’s what both of them plans to do. But even the best plans laid plans of mice and men go awry.

I love a good military romance, and the chemistry between Jessica and Tracker was off the charts. I really felt for his character. I didn’t connect with Jessica as much, she seemed a little flat. I did really enjoy the story and some of the characters but other seemed more like caricatures than real people. I found that there were certain phrases or ideas that were used in repetition. It was a bit distracting almost, making the characters seem child like. My favorite part of the story was definitely learning about the special abilities of the Dregs and watching the romance bloom between Jess and Liam. I will definitely check out the next in the series!
