A book about a severely depressed, anxious woman who takes a job in a church, pretending to be straight. The lady who had her job before her seems to have been murdered. Her family is a mess, her relationship one-sided and her arm broken in an accident she can't bring herself to deal with reporting. It's all a hot mess really.
Probably not the best book to be reading in one of the worst mental health episodes I've had in years. Despite that, it was one of the best. Emily Austin has captured the feeling of panic and perfectly portrayed that feeling of being alone that one feels when depressed. A book I'll come back to again I'm sure, hopefully from a better place! :)

DNF 49% (and for a very short book, that's saying something)
This came up as a popular new in book at the library. I've not read the series so maybe I'm missing something but I found the characters bland and unlikeable. It seems to be a novella centres on a bloke who lives with mates getting a surprise new roommate. He's possessive and weird immediately, keeping walking in on her naked and obsessively searching porn in front of all his housemates in an attempt to find one that she was in as an extra, something he finds out when listening in to her phone conversation with a friend. They then randomly have sex during which he finds she's immensely vulnerable. She leaves, he follows. She says no. A lot. He forces himself on her to give her an amazing time and all that rubbish. It's just rape. She said no. He's not sexy. She's aggressive and boring. He's plain boring. And again, she said no.
I can't believe I wasted time on this.

Well recommend by a friend but it just didn't jell for me. For a short book, it felt like it dragged on and on. I found myself struggling to keep track of the characters and, well, care. The author paints the atmospheric surroundings well but I struggled to find them spooky were meant.
