I had to force myself through this audiobook. Whatever I thought it was going to be about was lost quickly and I felt like I was attempting to stride through thick treacle the more I got into it. It picked up a little about 40% of the way through (finally the title made sense) but not enough to change my mind.
The concept was a wonderful idea for a book but it felt poorly executed. Several characters were lovely but had no place in the story making me wonder why they'd even been included. The plot and text felt clunky and honestly? A little dull.

What a book! I found it impossible to put down for the two days it took me to go through it.

It feels as though this book covers so many topics in it's story, from anxieties to the shock of finding something you never thought you'd see. It's a roller-coaster of a ride and I spent my team both willing the main character to succeed in finding the truth, whilst also willing her to stay well away from the chaos it was clear it would bring!

Unforgettable.

I throughly enjoyed this book. Full of magic, drama and wonder, I know this will be a world I return to again and again.

Honestly, I'm not sure what I can say about it without ruining the story but seriously, READ IT!

The narration was gorgeous, I could listen to that voice all day!

I can't say it wasn't a fight to get through this book. Reading the blurb, it sounded like an amazing tale of fantasy, set in a new world.

Each day, I struggled through a bit more. It wasn't until about 80% of the way through that it felt like the book even touched upon what was mentioned in the blurb. At this point, I began to enjoy it more. It's just a shame that it was almost over at this point.

Would I read the rest of the trilogy? I doubt it.

It's a good story but the constant rape was difficult. I spoke to some friends who love the TV show about it and their argument was that it was historically accurate and to miss it out would be to go against what it was like to live in the times. Even so, it didn't need to be so in depth. It's also a book about time travel that features a time travelling dinosaur at one point, so historical accuracy is hardly the key theme!
Some parts were incredibly difficult to get through and it wasn't until the second half that I began to want to read on, having forced my way through on recommendations from friends.
I'll probably try to read the next one in the series but then again, with all the forementioned graphic description of rape, I'm not sure how I feel about it.
Lastly, the utter gushing towards Jamie astounds me. Yes he's he 'hero' character but any man who repeatedly rapes the women he says he loves and beats her so severely she is unable to sit or lie down is an awful human being in my eyes. Further to this, whether rape is paramount for the times or not, her quick forgiveness of a man who BEAT HER UNTIL SHE COULDN'T MOVE at a point when she was still in a great deal of pain was rediculously extreme.
