I read this ahead of watching it's film adaptation. Honestly, I don't know what I thought of it. So much of it I really didn't enjoy. From entire characters putting me off to certain repeated phrases that made me shudder. So much of it was just ick.

Before bed, you need a book to reads that's not awful so you want to read it but also one that's not TOO good otherwise you'll never sleep. This was about that for me. As bad as parts of it felt, it kept me reading. Especially when stuck in A&E for the day with nothing else to do but wait.

And I loved
Hayes. I couldn't help but feel for him
, especially when
he begged, unable to understand why it had to end. Unable to comprehend something he already knew the answers to
. So many characters in their position are kind of awful but you couldn't help but want to
protect him from the world
.

Why did the plot need the constant
insinuations that Oli was in love with Hayes?
It didn't feel like it was developed into a proper plot point. Instead being chucked in at random, a little sprinkle of boy band 'stereotype'.

And that ending?
That hurt me. I didn't enjoy it. As corny as it would have been, I just wanted them to be happy.

Would I read it again? No, I don't think so.
Will I be thinking about it in a month? Yes, I think it'll be banging around my head, much to my chagrin.
Will I give my partner the usual 'what are you reading' run down and complain about the plot? He'd better bring the popcorn.
Will I still be watching the film? Well, if the popcorns already out, who's to say no?

Choppy and the characters were unpleasant. The musical score often drowned out what was being said and I felt like I was missing bits of the story because of this.
