Hatcher goes alpha mode 🐺🐺🐺
in all seriousness this was a completely fine and fun read, I'm glad we got more of Alice and she got to really shine and grow as a character, do not like Hatcher being a wolf??? Or that their relationship is left slightly rocky by the end.

Generally this is sold as a romance, those in the know will tell you it is not, it is a story about a woman falling in love, and said love becoming abusive.

It is not any of these things.

It Ends With Us is Colleen Hoover's way of saying that everything her mother went through, everything all abused women go through simply doesn't matter because "he was a really good dad though :((("

It's clear for the snarky remakes Lily gives about her mother staying, the abuse she suffered, how she justifies what happens to her, how the fucking abusive and
almost literal fucking rapist
man get's to be a father to his little girl. Any woman who would still consider a man who beat her mother a person isn't a person themself.

This book is unironically one of the worst books i've ever read. Completely wishy washy with its tone, I don't know if Hoover wanted us to take the subject matter seriously, or find it titillating. The boring prose and writing makes the sex (really mostly rape scenes) clumsy and offputting. The characters are absolutely nothing, Sloan has no real traits, Luke is incredibly frustrating and Asa is unintentionally hilarious (his obsession with coconut cake, "his Jesus on a Stick" and his final words, "I lied. I fucking hate your lasagna"). Just a book that ultimately fails at everything it wants to do. Do not read, do not pass, do not collect 200 coconut cakes.

It's usually a good thing when you say "I wish I had gotten more of this."
