I love the 90s. I love throwback horror, I love the guts and gore. This had a little bit of everything -cults, demons, and possession - and it could have been too much, but it worked out well! It was a quick read of about 100 pages and was the perfect pick me up after a series of heavier novels I read.

Thank you to the author for an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!

Overall, I enjoyed most part of this book with Cyd and Stacey.  This is a great book if you are looking for a jarring read. It is creatively written with a mix of prose, graphics and points of views.

When the world goes flat and the stairs appear, Carl and his cat Princess Donut bravely face a series of dungeons and mobs to try to make it out alive.

This book is funny, the characters are ridiculous and there is just enough sad moments to really keep it from being over the top. I wasn't expecting to tear up a few times during this book, but here I am. For being the first book in a long series, there has already been some growth and connections with the main two characters.  The battles are bloody (and funny), the descriptions of abilities are funny and potential is there for this series
