This is the second book I’ve read by Tiffany D. Jackson, and I love how she makes you feel so strongly for the characters. She is an emotionally strong writer. Cheers 🥂

☯︎➪ Review: If you’ve ever read “Monday’s Not Coming” by Tiffany, you definitely know what it feels like to have your heart being ripped out of your chest!!! Metaphorically of course😅 I loved the overall message of this story. This book was definitely written to show people, you CANNOT believe everything you see or read. There’s always a deeper meaning behind it.

The ending felt a bit rushed to me. There were a lot of plot holes. I felt that more motivation for certain motives would’ve made more sense. There were a lot of questionable moments within the story. Though I’m sure some of it was intentional due to the main character being a teenager.

There is a message of lack of support for Black women and women in general, when it comes to a males perspective, and judgement on a women’s mental state the world will place upon you. I love that Tiffany uses examples of Literature, Movies, and Artists into the writing for readers to identify with the character and her feelings. It definitely helps with judgement for a better understanding. There was a true MVP in this story. They deserve an award for being the “Saving Grace.” Very determined. Not backing down. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!!!

Wow! What an intense and heartbreaking story.

I picked this one up sort of randomly, for research I was doing. It was completely different from what I was expecting to read, and I definitely felt the weight of everything that was said.

There are a lot of TRIGGER WARNINGS in this book.

Mostly: suicide, depression, death, murder etc.

I will say I loved Yiyun’s writing, the way she was able to make me feel, question, and understand my own thoughts at certain times felt wild to me. I’ll definitely be reading another book from her.

To exist as fully as the world expects one to, yet to remain absent inwardly: not equipped with words to articulate the secret I nevertheless understood it at a formative age.

Sometimes I suspect that I am drawn to those who don’t converse with me because I have not outgrown a childish wish that they will teach me how to live.

How could you have thought of suicide when you have people you love? How could you have forgotten those who love you? These questions were asked, again and again. But love is the wrong thing to question. One does not will oneself to love; one does not kill oneself because one ceases to love. The difficulty is that love erases: the more faded one becomes, the more easily one loves. My muddle, in retrospect, is clear: I had underestimated my aversion to wanting anything; I had overestimated my capacity to want nothing.

One’s grief belongs to oneself; one’s tragedy, to others.

A terrifying and cute story about race, blackmail, and love.

What happens when you write all your deepest darkest secrets in your journal, and someone steals it? What happens when that person also starts to blackmail you?

Quinn’s journal is her life. She writes lists upon lists, of all the things she can’t say out loud. Now she has to find out who took her journal and why, before the blackmailer exposes all of her secrets—including a huge lie she told her parents and her entire school.

For the most part I enjoyed this book. It was cute and had a bit of a romantic factor to it. This book was heavily centered around race, and betrayal—which was so uncool.

Ultimately, it’s about finding your voice, and standing up for yourself in the end.

I don’t think I’ve found all of my words for this book, so bare with me as I do multiple updates.

This was such a well written, and very detailed book—I appreciated it so much.

It broke my heart. It made me angry. It made me overall question everything, and I loved it.
