3 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy quirky romantic comedies.
When Noah and Lexi get stuck in an elevator together, they bond instantly (with the help of Bartholomew the pack rat). Lexi doesn't let anyone get close, and Noah is big, burly, and intimidating but they instantly click. After they get out of the elevator they think they'll never see each other again, until Bartholomew turns up missing.
I enjoyed this quirky novella about a chance meeting between two characters stuck in an elevator. Lexi and Noah were quirky and fun characters. I liked that their story, setting, personalities, etc. were a little off the wall but authentic. Unfortunately the animation wasn't available on my device, but I bet it was really fun.. This was a fun change of pace in romance books. I felt like the whole story just made me feel cozy.

3 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy contemporary romance, particularly "the one that got away" trope.
Connie and Jonathan fell in love one summer in Sea Kiss, NJ. When Jonathan decides to drop out of college, Connie can't stay in a relationship with him. Connie's father left her when she was a child, and she knows that she needs a partner who is stable and responsible. Years later the two reunite when their friends get married, but they've both changed, can they make it work?
I started reading this when house-buying was my main focus... and so it was hard to focus on the prologue (?). I ended up dreading it, because I felt like I wasn't "into it" ... but it was really just my pre-occupation with becoming a homeowner. LOL. So I restarted it, and it ended up going really quickly. I liked that Connie and Jonathan were so opposite, and I really enjoyed their chemistry at the beginning of the book. I will say that they got together pretty quickly, and it was a lot more about how they could make it work than a will they/won't they kind of situation. There were quite a few parts that felt really repetitive as well. Also, (SPOILER) the fact that the synopsis made it sound like she had a kid... but she didn't really spoiled that she ends up getting pregnant... so... that was too bad. Also, Connie's preoccupation with Jon's inability to choose things drove me absolutely bonkers. Let him be. LOL. I did really appreciate Connie and her friend's friendship. It was nice to see a group of girls rooting for and supporting each other. I loved that their discussions were not completely about the men in their lives, as well. My absolute favorite part of this book is when Connie goes to visit her mom. Their relationship is so nice, and I loved that her Cuban culture was sprinkled throughout the book. Honestly, I wanted more of that! I thought that some of the resolutions were pretty quick, (SPOILER) like between Jonathan and his dad. I was (SPOILER) frustrated with her for telling others about the baby before Jonathan...and also for proposing to him before telling him about the baby! YIKES. I did enjoy the Buffy reference. Lastly, yeah I was drawn in by the cute cover. I just wanted a fun summer read! :)
Right After Reading:
Cute, but pretty repetitive. Also the blurb is kind of spoilery! x_x

3.5 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy contemporary romance, or have a love for Outlander.
When Nikki's boyfriend breaks up with her she quits her job and decides to move to England. She wants to fulfill her long-term dreams of living abroad, but she doesn't have anything figured out yet. On the plane to London she meets Harrison, a stuck up Brit with a fear of flying. After the two are thrown together and Harrison's assistant quits, Nikki steps in to help him with his family's travel company. After a mis-hap or two, Harrison's family thinks that he and Nikki are engaged... which makes things more complicated than they already were.
I enjoyed this fun little romance and ode to Outlander. I thought that Nikki and Harrison wre really fun characters and enjoyed the shenanigans that they got themselves into. I liked Harrison's friends and family as well and how they added humor to the pages. Overall I felt like the funny situations were a little bit repetitive at first, but still amusing. I didn't feel like I completely understood where the characters were coming from, why they were so reluctant to be in a relationship... it just didn't quite make sense to me. I was hoping for a little bit more out of the story, but still enjoyed it.

5 Stars - I recommend if you are looking for a diverse travel guide to New England.
A book of things to do and see in the New England states.
This visually stunning New England travel guide by Yankee Magazine is exactly what you need to plan your trip to New England. Or if you are a New Englander, it is the perfect resource for planning many-a weekend trip to come. This book has wonderful photos that will make any travel-lover swoon. I love that the guide is broken up by state, and gives a little overview of each state before diving into things to do, see, and eat. It features specific cities, and specific areas that should not be missed. For bigger cities, it also contains a quick guide to food within the metro. Lastly, it includes a list of festivals within each state, listed month-by-month. Overall this is a great, thorough yet pared down guide to New England. I highly recommend if you live in the area or are planning a getaway anytime soon!

3.75 - 4 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy quirky YA contemporary novels, or the female perspective within "nerd culture".
This story follows Cam a cosplay genius. She makes her own costumes, blogs, takes them to cons, etc. But when she moves from Portland to Eugene, she finds herself unable to go into the comic shop without the owner's nephew mansplaining during her entire visit. Naturally, to visit the shop and avoid the awkwardness, she cosplays as a boy. When the guys at the shop ask the guy version of her to play D&D with them, she thinks this is just what she needs to finish her portfolio for costume design school... however, it might jeopardize brand new friendships along the way.
This book was a lot of fun to read. It reminded me a little bit of Fan Girl. It definitely had that nerdy, coming of age feel to it. However, the D&D bits were woven in a bit more directly, and a bit more subtle than the fan fic in Fan Girl. I loved that this was also a critique of what it is like to be a female who is interested in things withing nerd culture, it can be hard. While I haven't dealt with a lot of these issues first hand, I have lots of friends who have. I appreciated it being addressed here. I loved Cam's character. It was so fun to read about her nerdy and creative pursuits, it makes me wish that I could sew! hehe I loved Dot, I loved Cam's family, I honestly could have done with a little more of the family dynamics within the novel as well. Dot and Lincoln were the cutest, and I'd have loved to know more about them! Overall I think this book is a little bit niche, but is definitely accessible if you are interested in it. My knowledge of D&D and Cosplay are fairly low, and I didn't have any issues with it. I really liked the illustrations thrown in here and there. I think it would have been neat to see sketches of her costumes as well!

4 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy mysteries, historical fiction, and strong female characters.
When Janie finds her brother, murdered, at his mansion's opening costume party she knows there is more to the story that meets the eye. Her family, one of the richest in the United States, is very proud and suddenly has a ruined reputation. When no one else will seek to investigate her brother's murder more fully, she teams up with Mr. Burke, a journalist, in hopes of discovering the truth, and getting justice. The story shifts back and forth between Janie and Mr. Burke solving the murder, and her brother Bay and his wife Annabelle's past. Both plots reach their apex at once in an exciting revelation.
I haven't read a ton of mysteries, and I had not read any of Willig's other books (though The Pink Carnation has been on my shelf for OVER 10 YEARS!), so I didn't know quite what to expect. I was immediately swept up in the intertwined stories. I loved Bay and Annabelle, I loved Janie as she sought to find her place in the world. I loved that there were so many layers to this mystery, so many people involved, so many moving pieces. There were several twists and turns in this story, which I appreciated, and did not see coming. I did guess the murderer, but only toward the end (about 70% through). The climax of the story kind of blew me away though, and I enjoyed the resolution. Overall, if you enjoy mysteries and historical fiction, I think that you will enjoy this book!

2.5 - I might recommend if you enjoy fluffy Christmas reads, and plots related to high society living.
Darcy Fitzwilliam is going home for the first time in 8 years. Her mother has had a heart attack, and she wants to be there for her even if it means confronting her past. She's not on good terms with her dad or brothers, and she doesn't like going back to her hometown. While at her parents' Christmas party she runs into Luke Bennett. One of the most annoying guys from high school, however she notices that she's no longer so annoyed by him. As things progress between her and Luke, her and her Ex, and her relationships with her family, Darcy finds herself questioning what she wants in life.
I really wanted to love this, but I was pretty disappointed by it. It was a fairly cute idea, but I didn't feel like I really understood the characters very well. Most of what I disliked was related to very surface level emotions, interests, and conversations. I did like it when Darcy had a more fleshed out personality, I felt like I started to understand her more, but I think that mostly happened toward the end of the book. Otherwise I was confused by her motivations. I did enjoy her relationship with her mom and her friend Bingley. The character growth was ok, and I liked the ending. There wasn't much of P&P in this. The characters had similar names and social status, but otherwise it was mostly just a present-day rom com. Overall it was just ok for me though. I've read plenty of De La Cruz's books, and this one was just not as enthralling as any of the others. And I love Christmas rom-coms you guys! Between the two, I much preferred Merry & Bright by Debbie Macomber.

4 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy Christmas rom-coms. :) (I know this is not everyone's genre!)
Merry Knight is working a temp job, (for an awful boss), and taking care of her family (her mother has MS and her younger brother is Autistic) all while saving for her final year in college. Her family has had a hard time making ends meet, and getting daily chores done. Because Merry is so selfless, her mother and brother sign her up for an online Matchmaking site called Mix & Mingle. They don't use her real name, and use a picture of their dog, just in case she's mad. Soon after Merry gets a "wink" from a match who also has a dog as a profile picture. When she finds out that her match is actually her boss, a total jerk, she doesn't know how to proceed. Holiday hi-jinx and shenanigans ensue.
I am a sucker for Christmas rom coms. I can't help it. I'm trash for Hallmark channel in the winter, and I love reading these books. I've been disappointed by the last few that I had read by this author... but finally I felt like this one was back to what I expected. I thought that this was cute, predictable, romantic, and heartwarming. Just the type of book I need when the world is hurting so much. I loved the family aspect of this one. I loved that Merry was so close with her parents and brother. I love that those relationships were featured heavily in the book as well. If you're looking for a happy Holiday read, I definitely recommend this one. :)

Finally! Another Debbie Macomber that hits the spot. :) I'd been disappointed by the last few I'd read, but this one had that old charm back. I thought this was perfectly cute, predictable, heartwarming, and fun. The perfect read for when the world outside is less than warm and fuzzy.

4 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy books that focus on relationships with twisty motivations, and subtle hints of magic in your fiction.
This book follows Hector, a magician/telekinetic, who moves to a new city to perform. He meets a young woman, named Nina, who is taken with his talents, and wants to be a performer herself. He decides to court her, and teach her what he knows, as she enters her first "grand season" in society. Nina is under the supervision of her elegant aunt Valerie, in hopes that she may find a husband soon. However, her gifts are frowned upon and often cause her to be seen as an outcast. Hector seems to be her only suitor and friend, but is he really after Valerie?
This book is pretty hard to describe, but I just thought it was lovely and atmospheric. It has a slow pace, but the world is lovely. I enjoyed the societal aspect of the book (the grand balls, the courting, etc.), but I also enjoyed the bits of magic/telekinesis. I loved most that Nina and Valerie had really interesting personalities and interests. Nina as into etymology and collecting butterflies specifically. Valerie is all about presentation, perfect from head to toe, every room in her home, even her rose garden. I felt like most of the characters had questionable or changing motivations. You didn't know when people were telling the truth or not, which had me feeling like I didn't know what would happen in the end. The twisty relationship dynamics reminded me a bit of My Cousin Rachel or Cruel Intentions, though a little less stark overall. I recommend this if you enjoy books like this or are looking for something a little bit out of the ordinary. I thought it was really lovely to read.*

4 Stars - I recommend if you enjoy fiction that features travel, romance, and is light hearted. This isn't the sub genre for everyone, but I think it is super fun to read.
This book follows blogger/YouTuber Camille as she embarks on a paid trip to Costa Rica for a up-and-coming fashion magazine. She's given tour guides, and a photographer. The photographer, Adam, happens to be very obnoxious, and uptight, but also cute. He thinks she is spoiled, and much to self-centered to think about the world. As the trip goes on, they find out they have more in common than they thought.
Like I said above, this sub-genre isn't for everyone, but I think it is a blast to read. Especially when you want something fluffy. The writing is very fun and easy. I liked that this one specifically was about college aged people. So it didn't feel quite as young as YA. I really liked that the perspective varied by chapter Adam then Camille. I felt like that made it pretty cute to read. I also liked that while romance is decent chunk of this book, it was still pretty detailed in the travel aspect. They describe the activities, the things they are learning, etc. I don't know, I just loved this one. Very cute. hope that they write more!*

They describe the activities, the things they are learning, etc. I don't know, I just loved this one. Very cute. hope that they write more!*
Right After Reading:
Fluffy travel rom coms are my jam. This was so cute.
