This story is just so sweet.
This comic shows a pretty realistic and cute relationshio that is also about respecting boundarys and learning about each other.
And I like that it is also a bit about living with disabilty since one of the characters has one. (None that thechnically exists in our time, since we don't have the technique that would make such a disability appear. But still a realistic presentation of how people with semi-visible "light appearing" disabiltys get treated.)
Sunati and Austen are really cool protagonists. They both have unique personalities and ways to handle stuff. And they both are pretty complex characters. What I really appreciate.
What I also liked about that story is, that is easy readible even for non-native english speakers when they just get back into using that language more often. It uses mostly easy senteces to get the story told. But this does not make the story less complex. (I've first read it back when the first season got published on webtoons.)
Also you can definitly read it more than once. It is a sweet and comforting love story. Both have some issues while dating, but they learn how to deal with it and.

Honestly, this is one of the few books/storys where I'd say - without any hint of doubt - that Part 2 is as good as Part 1.
The romance story between austen and Sunati continues. And it is as sweet, as in Season I. They still face some problems, they're still complex characters, they have character growth and the story feels real.
While reading it feels like you get a glimpse of the life of two real people with their up and downs. Their relationship does not feel forced. What happens in their life does not feel like something that would never happen to me the absolut normal reader (even though it is set in the future and some stuff happens, that we don't have the technic for, it still feels realistic in the sense of "normal humans making decisions and being unsure about their life".)
Also this story manages it to include really diverse characters and relationships without any of them feeling forced. They're just naturally included and normalized what is really pleasant to read. (It is nice to have a few storys about diverse characters and not having to read about discrimitation.)

Ich kannte den Ghibli Film "Das Wandelnde Schloss" schon eine Weile. Und ich würde weiterhin sagen, dass der Film absolut super ist. Dementsprechend neugierig war ich auch auf diese Buch.
Und ich bin Fan der zusätzlichen Handlungsebene, die man im Buch bekommt Mehr Charaktere und mehr Details über die Handlungsmotive von Sophie und Howl. Auch die Atmosphäre des Buches ist ein wenig anders, als ich es vom Film her erwartet hatte. Es ist ein wenig düsterer. Aber trotzdem noch in einem lockeren Stil geschrieben. Dieser Schreibstil gefiel mir sehr gut und lässt sich flüssig lesen. Ich hatte erwartet, dass es stellenweise ein wenig anstrengend wird, aber das ist es tatsächlich nicht geworden. Und ich bin ehrlich gespannt, wie die Handlung in den Folgebänden weitergeht.

First things first: I really loved this book.
Technically it might not have been for my age group but I wish I could have read something like this when I was a lot younger.
Ana on the Edge is a great story about Ana who just gets to know themself. And the title of the book just fits. In more than one way. Ana really is on the Edge.
The book is definitly a good and real portray of a trans character. It also describes the aspect of dysphoria regarding to how other people see onself really accurate (at least I could relate to it in some way).
The story itself is well written and easy to read and understand. If you're not familar with ice skating terms you might have to reaserch what a solchow might be, but not exactly knowing what this is does not hinder the reading experience and you can always imagine how exactly the performances on ice look or might look. Furthermore the book is a typical "growing up a bit more"-story. Of a child learning more about themself, about how friendship works and that sometimes you have to say sorry for your mistakes.
The Characters felt all like real people and not just characters that exist because you need characters to progress/tell a story. The Cast of the story is relatively small, but this might be the reason why all of those characters seem like they're a whole person.

Das Buch lässt mich etwas zwiegespalten zurück.
Ich finde es von der Handlung interessant, aber die Handlung nicht gut umgesetzt.
Das Grundsätzliche Setting, eine digitalisierte Welt in der ein Großkonzern das Monopol im in Internet und damit auch im Alltag hat, ist interessant. Die Art, wie die Hauptfigur Mae angelegt ist, als 0815-Alltagsperson, die in dieses Unternehmen reinrutscht, finde ich auch gut. Man hat beim Lesen das Gefühl, dass man nachvollziehen kann, wie Mae langsam aber sicher in dieses ganze Konstrukt gezogen wird und nach und nach die Fähigkeiten zum selbstständigen Denken verliert und den Circle über alles stellt.
Aber an sich sind alle Figuren platt. Jede Figur füllt genau eine einzige Niesche und nur diese. Es gibt quasi keine Charakterentwicklung außer verstärkte Hinentwicklung zu dieser Niesche.
Man kann natürlich auch sagen, dass die Figuren so scheinen, weil die Geschichte aus Maes Sicht erzählt wird, und sie die anderen Personen eben so wahrnimmt, aber das macht es beim Lesen trotzdem irritierend.
Ein weiter Irritationsfaktor waren die Sexszenen. Die hatten an sich keinen Mehrwert zur Gesamtstory, waren aber auch nicht so gut geschrieben, dass sie aus sich heraus einen Mehrwert hatten - sie waren einfach kurz und akward und haben nicht ganz in den Gesamtton der Geschichte gepasst. Ein Freund hat die beim Lesen mit "Ich glaube, der Autor muss ins horny Jail." kommentiert und das fasst meinen Gedankengang dazu ganz gut zusammen.
Das Buch ist auch eher trocken geschrieben, lässt sich dafür aber relativ schnell und flüssig lesen.

Das Ende kam für mich überraschend, aber es war positiv überraschend. Keine unnötige Romanze, mit dem Retter, der Mae klargemacht hat, dass der Circle zu weit geht. Nein, die klare Linie, dass Mae in den Circle rutscht und nicht mehr selber denkt, wurde weiterverfolgt. Worst Case Szenario.Ich hatte vorher überlegt, wie das Buch enden könnte, sodass es in sich schlüssig wäre, und die Optionen hatten mir alle nicht wirklich gefallen. Dementsprechend hat mich das eigentliche Ende wieder eher positiv über das Buch denken lassen.
