It's nice to have appetizer-sized page-turners from Stephen King every once in a while. Also, almost every story had a white man in his 70s as a main character that I had to look up how old Stephen King currently is. I guess he sticks to the adage "write what you know"! LOL
Even so, there were some great stories, and none that I didn't dislike. There were also a few follow ups on past bestsellers, like the father from Cujo, or an alternate look at The Tommyknockers. And of course, almost everything takes place in the Castle Rock, ME.
I had a good time reading them and, if you like Stephen King, I hope you do too!

A great juvenile fiction book, especially if you have someone in grade school or early high school that has just been diagnosed with Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis. Even if you don't have IBD, it was still a good read for Tess's baking and her plight to enter and win the Junior Baking competition! And boy does she have a lot of stuff on her plate to overcome!
As someone with UC, it was a good reminder to take care of yourself, know when to tap out and take care of your physical and mental health, because stress can trigger flare-ups in IBD.

DNF. This book was always near the top of the recommendations when anyone requested a good vampire book on the r/horrolit subreddit, so I decided to give it a try. I just don't have the time or patience for long-winded 80's horror like this. It suffered from OWMS (Old White Man Syndrome) like in Carrion Comfort by Dan Simmons. No, I don't need every detail about the virility of the two male MCs. No, I don't need your flat, poorly written, barely present female characters. I just want evil vampires doing evil things, but apparently 8 hours and 45% of the way through the audiobook, even that was too much to ask. I did enjoy the way The Thing in the Ground said Boris's name. Drago-ZAHHHH-NEEE. LOL The narrator was good with the accents.
Love love LOVED this book. Loved the MC, Muriel and her plight to stand against the big baddie, a billionaire American buying up Scottish villages and turning them into vacation spots and golf courses, even as the remaining villagers give in to his monetary offers and move away one by one (or don't take his offers and get unalived). Classic setup with an MC you love and a baddy you hate. Enter The Blob, a thing she saves from the seashore that, with a little bit of sustenance (a little bit of blood, or a human), can morph to look like anyone, even Muriel's long lost-at-sea husband Billy. Enter the sweet romance of this book as Muriel is able to enjoy being with her husband, feeling young again, remembering their time together, and getting a chance to properly say goodbye. The Blob can only retain this form when it is healthy and well-fed though. That's okay, there's a bunch of nasty people that work for the billionaire. Enter the horror of this book as The Blob devours the baddies in the most gruesome of ways (EXCELLENT).
Also, the last part of this book is a memoir of the author's grandma and her remembrances growing up, falling in love, and raising a family during World War 2. Just like Muriel, it was very sweet and touching as well as fascinating and sad to see how she was able to do so much with so little.

I couldn't decide if this BL was cute or depressing and if I liked the MC or was tired of his wallowing. In the end I decided they deserved each other and hope they can forget what other people think and be happy and in love.
I had a lot of fun reading this! It's been a while since the characters in a BL had actual depth and personality! I also found it funny, and it got really intriguing at the end. I'm gonna have to buy this series for myself!
Just your average BL stuff. Reminded me a little bit of Kamisama Kiss.
