A short book set in our world, in a not-so-distant future (I think? or was it current times?), global warming and our neglect of our planet's welfare has led to severe droughts, new incurable diseases, and very long, hot, rainless summers. All this, yet the story centers on two people in a slummier part of Beijing, two young men, one a foreigner and one a native suffering from an incurable illness, and their bond and love that forms over the finding of neglected and dying dragons and the hope that nursing them will help find a cure.
A very sweet and sad short story that has adorable dragons in it so +5,000 points from me!

I'm always a fan of Una McCormack because you can count on her having Garak involved in her books in some way.
Definitely in this book!

But...kinda a definite way to not have him included in any books that take place after 2399.... :*(
A VERY adorable comic full of humor and fuzzy love and crushes, with a dash of feels and an undercurrent of a message about what might be keeping us from being with and loving who we want (hint: the laws may be quite medieval but they're more real and current than you think)!
As I explained it to a coworker: Though there are 3 books in this series, the Wayfarers, they do not follow the same character(s) throughout. Think American Horror Story, but sci-fi, and not scary but feel good, and accepting. I started book 2 and yearned to learn what happened to the characters I fell in love with in book one. Then fell in love with the characters in book 2 and yearned for them while starting book 3. And in the end, I love all the characters and the messages of love and hope and acceptance that are in each book in this series! <3
1.5 stars. I just couldn't read more than the first few chapters. Much like the problem I had with Gone Girl, when everyone is a mess and a horrible person and each chapter's POV reveals more horribleness, I can't read it. That's not horror for me, that's just a stomach ulcer!
I know I own one other Chuck Tingle book, but it's his usual "pounded in the butt by..." fare. This is not his usual fare, but looking at his author page it looks like he has another horror novel called Straight. I enjoyed this book enough that I'll definitely have to read that one too!
Plenty of justified anger as the MC, Rose--definitely on the spectrum, delightfully straight forward and full of facts, a mind for languages and numbers, and most definitely queer--fights back at the gay conversion camp that took her memories of the woman she loved the most. And their conversion methods are most certainly hellish!
I had a good time listening to this book!

4.5 stars! Another fun adventure with Scarlett and Albert! These books really are a lot of fun and I absolutely know I'm going to have a great time full of suspense, witty chatter, and fantastic characters with great character development!
Did audiobook this time and not regretting it!

I would recommend this book to anyone else who is a big PotO fan and can withstand teen angst and love triangles (I mean, I guess it's kinda like that in the musical with Christine, Raoul and Erik, but mostly to us Erik/Christine shippers).
Spoiler
A very good ending especially for us Erik/Christine shippers! :)
The art is BEAUTIFUL. This is the artist I want to be! THIS. As for the story, it takes a bit to immerse yourself in the world, but it's very intriguing.
