I really wish they would let us rate with half stars, but then we'd probably be ungrateful and start demanding quarter ratings. Either way, I wish to say I'd give this 3.5 stars because I don't want anyone to think it's bad. It was a great story! I always love the characters Brom creates and illustrates and he really is an inspiration to me! Yet I think that I have enjoyed his other works better than this one. I never got seriously involved in any of the characters or got that feeling of magic (be it dark or light), and I love his artwork so much but it seemed to be lacking a little in this compared to his other novels. But still! It was good, very dark, extremely sad at times (that ending, oh my heartstrings!), and a touch of suspense.
I just read Lost Gods and realized I didn't have this on my Goodreads shelf. I read it a while ago, but Lost Gods kind of reminded me of Devil's Rose. A shorter story, much more of that delicious artwork, but a similar theme of coming back from the dead to protect your love despite the horrors of hell you may have to face to do so.
A short story in the Cabal universe where Johannes drinks a special ouzo to meet his future self and ask whether he is on the right track in his necromantic pursuits. Yet anytime he makes a judgement or has an idea, the future and his future-self changes. So, is the ouroboros ouzo worth the risk?
Very cute and colorful story that reminded me a lot of the graphic novel Princeless. Same attitude that the princess doesn't need saving and can do it on her own! Of course she learns that any adventure is better with friends, and the friends she makes are awesome and adorable.
I liked that I can read this comic and hear their voices so well in my mind. So yes, if you like the show, you'll like the comic!
Boy do I love Miles, he's the best Spider-man so far! Poor kid, his mom isn't in on the secret yet and goes so far as to call up her mother to set Miles straight, since his perfect grades have become not-so-perfect lately. But boy is her mom a BITCH as she is making it even HARDER on Miles to be the (now officially) other Spider-man. She even hires a certain, Marvel, private investigator to see what her grandson is up to. Luckily Jessica Jones knows the right way to handle this case.
Wow, I had forgotten a LOT about this series. Still the best villain ever!
Non-fiction is not my thing. You have to make it read like a novel, or like historical fiction, for me to really get into it. The writing in this was so...simple--almost babyish--I felt. I read it to the end because my interest was kept as to what happened in Theo's life but boy was this tough for me to get through.
Sorry undead Crichton, this book wasn't one of your sci-fi so it didn't keep my interest too long. Maybe they'll uncover another one of your unfinished manuscripts, or your ghost writer will churn out another more to my taste.
