Loved this.

I already knew Jesmyn Ward is a great writer, but now I confidently say she is one of my favorite writers. Wow, so good.

I liked this even more the second time. I think it took me the second read to more fully grasp the story.

Ummmm ouch?

I think I need to read this a second time to fully get a grasp on it.

Wow. Spectacular. This book made me feel every emotion.

An historical approach that outlines the complicity of racism within the Christian church within the United States. This was well organized and extremely informative. I think this book would be great introduction and first step to understanding the country's racist history through the lens of Christianity. It is a book I think every white Christian should read in their life, with an open mind and an open heart.

The Color Purple was marvelous. Truly a modern, American classic. The story of Celie is difficult and beautiful. Her resilience is so deeply felt and her growth inspiring. I loved this book.

Additionally, the new movie is great, and I would highly recommend it.
